Education - "Wisdom from the Elders"
Posted on December 17, 2011 at 12:46 AM |
I am pleased to author and launch the blog for Promise to Pray. This long awaited initiative is faith-based, and we believe our children deserve the very best in education. We believe children need the prayers of families, the nation, and the entire world. On this journey, I challenge us to pay attention to the elders in our communities. I believe their collective wisdom, voices, and prayers can assist us on this journey. My favorite quotation hails from someone, whose journey did not forget about the significance of education. His name is Mr. Nelson Mandela, the former president of South Africa. He states, "Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world." Truly it is! Prayer is too! Please join us and post the stories of the elders, and their thoughts about education. Thank you! |

The struggles continue in our schools. The death of Robert Carter reminds us of the work that was done for Brown vs. Boars of Education. Carry the torch! Keep the candles lit for equality in education.

As the current school year draws to a close, it is so very important to encourage school age children to finish complete the year with promise for the future. Involve children in summer activities that will enable them to transition with ease into the next school year.

The pursuit of education guarantees the higher probability of future success which has been proven emphatically. Family support and prayer are critical pieces to a child's progression educationally, which is something I can attest to. An old buddy of mine told me "You can make it man" and I've used that phrase throughout life whenever I thought I couldn't.

Last week one of my students informed me that she had been accepted to a summer program at Princeton University; however, of the $4500 tuition, she only had $2250. I informed her that I truly believed in miracles and my prayer was that Almighty God would bless her heart's desire. In less than 24 hours, she had the full tuition and she is an ambassador for what God can do!

Please join us in prayer this week for children, who are classified, or under special education laws. They desperately need our prayers!
